Sisters of the Midnight Sun

I’m delighted to let you know that my latest novel – Sisters of the Midnight Sun – is out now.

Here’s what early reviewers are saying…

“Fiona Valpy’s most vivid, bold and heartbreaking novel yet!” Abbeigh, Goodreads

“An unforgettable novel, both heartbreaking and life-affirming, with an epic historical sweep and a deeply human lens focused on two sisters you root for all the way. Their story lingers long after the last page.”
Eve Chase, author of The Secret Thread, The Midnight Hour, and The Bird Cage

“Atmospheric and intriguing—a deftly woven tale of grief, sisterhood and hope.”
Lucy Diamond, author of I Remember Paris

“One of the pleasures of Fiona Valpy’s work is getting to know her characters, among them many strong, engaging women. Sisters of the Midnight Sun takes us with them to extraordinary places, while reminding us of the twinned importance of courage and delight.”
Elizabeth Kostova, author of The Historian, The Shadow Land, and Mystery Play

“An elderly woman bonds with a young woman hired as her companion and shares stories of WWII in this immersive novel from Valpy. Valpy’s vivid depictions of the resistance in Nazi-occupied Norway highlight the nation’s wartime sacrifice . . . and she shades her main characters with a great deal of depth. Fans of WWII fiction will have a tough time putting this one down.”
Publishers Weekly

And here’s some more information about the book to whet your appetite…

Two women, decades apart, are torn apart by grief but brought together through hope.

Shetland, 2001: Ruby Reid is running from a decision she doesn’t want to make. Finding herself on a remote croft caring for a mysterious old woman she discovers that Hanna has her own reasons for hiding from the world. Slowly, Hanna reveals her story to Ruby…

Norway, 1940: Hanna Kristiansen’s world is overturned when Norway falls into the hands of Germany.

She’s determined to keep her twin sister, Liv, safe but as Hanna fights for her country, she must make unthinkable personal sacrifices. The war may take everything from her, but ensuring the freedom of her people demands it.

Decades later, Hanna is still haunted by the scars of war that mark her arm. The numbers that will forever signify where one life ended and another began.

But as the two women bond through their shared loss, they learn to find strength in fragility and discover a new hope in the most unlikely of places.

I have read every single one of your books and loved them all. I was incredibly disheartened to see that this one is not available on kindle unlimited. As of now, I will not be able to purchase this book.

Hello Ashley, and thank you for all your support for my books. Sisters of the Midnight Sun will become available on Kindle Unlimited at some point in the future (the timing is decided by publishers in association with Amazon) so I hope you will be able to read it when it does.
Best wishes,
Fiona
