Thank you! I’m lucky to have found a very talented local designer who has created the new site for me 🙂

I’ve only recently discovered your books and you’ve become my favourite author. Your writing is impeccable and your research is amazing. I cried when I read about the horror of Ville (even though at the time I thought it was fiction. Whe I read that it had actually happened I wept for ages. I was 5 when the war started and remember some events; I visited Le Havre for the firts time in 1947 and the family were poor, like us. With my exchange friend falling ill 3 days after we went to her home after her stay of 5 weeks with us — she was the only member of her family who spoke any English — my French quickly became fluent. If only I could say th same now. But your inclusion of French words and phrases has piqued my interest again, although I can’t do much with it at 88 and living in a care home. I have the list of your books in order and am looking forward to reading as many as I can. If you an use any of this for publicity, please do so. Vivienne Chandler.

Dear Vivienne,

Thank you for your lovely message and for sharing some of your own experiences. It must have been such an eye-opener to stay with your French friend’s family so soon after the war had ended. I can only imagine how impoverished the country must have been in those years immediately following the devastation of the occupation.

I’m very moved to hear how deeply the book affected you. Thank you for all your support for my writing. I hope you will enjoy reading the others as well.

With very best wishes,
Fiona
